Yes, You Can Permanently Remove the Unwanted Hair Growing There

Let’s face it. You’re tired of shaving, plucking, and waxing. You’re weary of getting all your body hair groomed or removed, only to have to go through the whole process again in a few weeks.

Shaving only cuts the hair off at the surface of your skin, so it grows back quickly. Plucking the hair out by the root slows the regrowth down, but it will still grow back.

You want a more permanent solution, and the team at Skin Med Spa has the answer for you: laser hair removal.

How does laser hair removal work?

The idea behind laser treatment is to damage your hair follicles with high-heat lasers so that the hair will stop growing. Because your hair grows in cycles, it will likely take several treatments with the laser to remove all the hair in the targeted area.

The providers at Skin Med Spa use the LightSheer laser — it’s a diode laser by Lumenis, a trusted technology specifically designed for laser hair removal. The laser effectively removes hair from wherever you don’t want it to grow, including your face, upper lip, neck, chest, back, abdomen, arms, legs, and bikini area.

Am I a good candidate?

The LightSheer laser works well with any skin type, including dark skin tones. When choosing to do laser hair removal, it is best to avoid sun tanning of the desired treatment area. Your first appointment starts with a consultation with one of our board-certified nurse practitioners Barbara and/or Michael. Your Skin Med Spa provider will work with you to determine your treatment goals and desired outcome and will then let you know if you’re a good candidate for the procedure. (You likely will be fine if your goal is permanent hair loss.)

What should I expect?

To prepare, you should protect your skin from the sun and avoid tanning creams and blood-thinning medications for a few weeks before your procedure. You should also stop plucking and waxing prior to the procedure.

Your provider may apply a numbing cream to the targeted area and will then use the handheld LightSheer laser to destroy your hair follicles. You may feel a sensation of snapping rubber bands or warm pinpricks. Once the procedure is over, ice can relieve any discomfort you feel. You should also avoid tanning beds and protect your skin from the sun.

Your hair won’t fall out immediately, but you’ll notice great results after the first few treatments — and you’ll enjoy not plucking and shaving in that area!

When you’re ready to permanently solve your unwanted hair problem, contact the team at Skin Med Spa for a consultation, and we’ll put together a plan to help you. Just call our office, or request an appointment with our online booking tool, and your hair will be gone before you know it!
