Am I a good candidate?

The LightSheer laser works well with any skin type, including dark skin tones. When choosing to do laser hair removal, it is best to avoid sun tanning of the desired treatment area. Your first appointment starts with a consultation with one of our board-certified nurse practitioners Barbara and/or Michael. Your Skin Med Spa provider will work with you to determine your treatment goals and desired outcome and will then let you know if you’re a good candidate for the procedure. What should I expect?

To prepare, you should protect your skin from the sun and avoid tanning creams and blood-thinning medications for a few weeks before your procedure. You should also stop plucking and waxing prior to the procedure.

Your provider may apply a numbing cream to the targeted area and will then use the handheld LightSheer laser to destroy your hair follicles. You may feel a sensation of snapping rubber bands or warm pinpricks. Once the procedure is over, ice can relieve any discomfort you feel. You should also avoid tanning beds and protect your skin from the sun. 

Your hair won’t fall out immediately, but you’ll notice great results after the first few treatments — and you’ll enjoy not plucking and shaving in that area!
