Considering
Radiesse?

What is
Radiesse?

Radiesse is an injectable filler made of calcium hydroxylapatite, or CaHA, in a gel carrier. It provides support where facial contours have softened and stimulates collagen as the product is gradually absorbed.

At Skin Med Spa in Downers Grove, facial balancing starts with the relationship between your cheeks, chin, and jawline. We assess your face from several angles and in motion, then plan where added support could improve proportion. Every area does not need treatment.

When the main concern is thinning or crepey skin, we may recommend hyperdilute Radiesse for broader collagen stimulation. Our dermal filler options also include hyaluronic acid products when a softer or reversible correction is preferable.

Your consultation separates changes in facial structure from changes in skin quality, so the product and placement fit the concern.

Restore support where the midface has flattened, with attention to how it affects the lower face.

Assess projection and shape in relation to your lips, nose, and jawline.

Add support along a softened jawline when filler is appropriate for your anatomy.

CaHA encourages collagen production as the carrier gel and particles gradually break down.

A plan for your whole profile.

Our nurse practitioners review your medical history and previous filler before recommending treatment. Radiesse does not remove fat or replace surgery for substantial skin laxity.

Your cheeks have lost support

You notice a flatter midface and want to discuss restoring proportion.

Your chin needs definition

You want to assess how chin projection contributes to facial balance.

Your jawline has softened

You want a clearer contour and an assessment of whether volume loss, laxity, or fullness is responsible.

You want to compare fillers

We explain Radiesse, hyaluronic acid fillers, and Bellafill before you commit to a plan.

Your features,
considered together.

Start with
your questions.

At Skin Med Spa, we assess the cheeks, chin, and jawline together for facial balancing. Radiesse (+) is FDA-approved for moderate to severe loss of jawline contour in adults over 21. Cheek and chin contouring are off-label uses that require an individual assessment. Radiesse is not our choice for lip or under-eye filling.

For contouring, Radiesse provides structural support and volume where your features need it. Hyperdilute Radiesse spreads the product more broadly to encourage collagen production and improve skin quality. We may discuss both when changes in facial shape and thinning skin occur together.

Both stimulate collagen, but their materials and treatment goals differ. Radiesse contains calcium hydroxylapatite that the body gradually absorbs. Bellafill contains permanent PMMA microspheres in a bovine collagen gel and requires a skin allergy test. We offer both and discuss the area, desired correction, and long-term commitment before choosing a product.

Contouring can be visible after treatment, although swelling affects the early appearance. Collagen develops over time, and maintenance depends on your treatment area and response. Radiesse cannot be dissolved with hyaluronidase like a hyaluronic acid filler, so we plan placement conservatively and review the result at follow-up.

Bruising, swelling, tenderness, and lumps can occur. Rare injection into a blood vessel can cause skin injury, blindness, or stroke. Vision changes, severe or unusual pain, skin blanching, or stroke symptoms need urgent medical attention. Tell us about allergies, bleeding disorders, previous fillers, and medications. Treatment is deferred for active skin infection; safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established.
