Most people need 3 to 6 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. General glow and texture may take 3, while acne scars and larger pores usually need the higher end of that range.
Microneedling works by creating thousands of controlled micro-injuries that trigger a collagen and elastin response as the skin repairs. Because you are relying on your body's own remodeling, results build across sessions and continue maturing for months after the series ends.
The number tracks with the goal. General rejuvenation, dullness, and fine lines often respond in 3 sessions. Acne scarring, deeper texture, and enlarged pores are more stubborn and typically need 4 to 6, sometimes more, because collagen has to be laid down repeatedly to fill and smooth. Spacing sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart respects the time collagen takes to form.
Realistic expectations matter here. Microneedling meaningfully improves scars and texture, but it improves rather than erases, and ice-pick scars in particular are hard to fully resolve with needling alone.
Adding PRP or exosomes to the treatment can accelerate healing and boost the collagen response, which is worth discussing if scarring is your main concern. Consistency and completing the full series is what separates a real result from a mild one.
