Yes, for the right candidate. PRP has real evidence for early to moderate hereditary thinning, with a typical protocol of 3 to 4 monthly sessions plus maintenance. It cannot regrow hair where follicles are already gone.
PRP for hair uses your own blood, spun to concentrate the platelets and their growth factors, which are then injected into the scalp. Those growth factors prod dormant and weakening follicles into a healthier, more active growth phase, which can thicken existing hairs and slow shedding.
The evidence is genuinely supportive for pattern (androgenetic) hair loss, and the key word is timing. PRP works best when there is still hair to save, meaning early to moderate thinning with follicles that are miniaturizing but alive. It cannot resurrect a follicle that has already died, which is why a slick-bald area will not respond and why acting early matters so much.
A standard course is 3 to 4 sessions spaced about a month apart, followed by maintenance sessions every few months, because the effect fades without upkeep. Results build gradually, with reduced shedding often noticed first and visible density later.
PRP is strongest as part of a combined plan rather than a solo fix. Pairing it with proven medical therapies and supplements addresses hair loss from several angles at once. A candid scalp assessment, including how much viable follicle remains, is what predicts whether PRP is worth it for you.
